Upon going into this series (and made mention of earlier), I had anticipated having to spend a great deal of time re-reading and block quoting excerpts from John Taylor Gatto's "The Underground History Of American Education" and it filled me with a sense of dread because it entailed lots of work, lots of time, lots of sitting at my desk until compression of the ulnar nerve either in my left shoulder blade or neck area results in total cold fire numbness from that shoulder down to the ring and pinky fingers. This drives me out of my fucking computer chair and onto the couch where my posture shifts enough to decompress the nerve after some time, and wake my arm up. All of which makes long form writing (and even gaming on Steam) very burdensome.
I lucked out.
As it turns out, Gatto often summarizes the contents of his books in shorter essays, and I found one that contains enough of the relevant parts to link to it ...
It's not too long of a read so go on head and check it out, and then come right back when you're done ...
Back already?!?
Okay.
From Gatto's writings (and even some forays into Mencken and Toynbee territory), you can clearly see how things came to be the way things are: the hyper-partisan WWE nature of our public and political discourse has over a century of "science" and experimentation baked into it from some of the sickest bastards in war, education, and business that we named streets and schools after, and we have validated the “science” of it all time and time and time against over the course of our own sorry moribund Kiddult lives because we are products of it all. It’s a system that on the surface preaches about freedom, democracy, and liberty, but behind the curtain, the true purpose of the American experiment is, was, and always had been two fold …
First, it’s to make insurrections and revolutions a thing of the past if such a lofty thing is at all possible. That’s it in a nutshell. America was founded by revolutionaries who saw fit to make another revolution impossible, and the Brahmins and Prussians eventually gave them the framework. But if indeed it is not possible — if revolution and insurrection is so inevitable that paradoxically trying to stave it off will only hasten and fulfill it — then the fallback mechanism was to resort to griftopia where wealth is extracted and redistributed upward over and over and over again until the rabble beat their iPhones and Slim Jims into pitchforks and guillotines. The USA has been at this stage since 1971 … the rich elites are the real accelerationists in the equation. They are doing this deliberately to test and validate their “science” and so far, we helped them do just that. One civil war in 200 years is a heck a benchmark. It’s also why nations such as Chile and France can’t get away with it. Their citizenry waste no time …
And when you combine everything from Gatto here, along with the three books by Joe Bagent, the 1997 study on Centrist Extremism, all 77 episodes of "The Shield" and even "The Wire" for good measure, and contrast it all with American history -- especially in 1971 where Gatto himself first experienced what the fall of Bretton Woods entailed from the perspective of a teacher witnessing a sudden inexplicable influx of administrators being deployed on public school systems all across the country -- it shouldn't take you long to conclude that the United States is well into a form of inverted fascism of, by, and for the Centrist-Extremists and the continued perpetuation of crony religious Capitalism's slave engine.
It explains the Shitlibs such as Aravosis, Markos, Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, Ceder, & Vaush. It explains the "woke"ness of the current age. It explains Trump and the "Let Him Happen On Purpose" nature surrounding his presidency. It explains the DNC, the GOP, and even the corporate Establishment press. It explains Jimmy Dore, Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, Jordan Chariton, and Aaron Mate. It explains the DSM-V and the ICD-10. It explains our rotten assed system by simply explaining our rotten assed selves and the systems of oppression we permit. It explains why we choose to shriek in self-recognition like Narcissus whenever somebody's eyes serve as the perfect mirror.
Americans force feeding each other their own shit sandwiches …
Sure, that’ll go over well …
Hell hath no fury, indeed.
